Let’s face it, once the wedding day is over, most bridesmaid dresses never see the light of day again. Enter the allure of the jumpsuit, which can be worn again and again, long after a trip down the aisle. Once reserved for men’s workwear, jumpsuits have transformed into impossibly chic, utilitarian staples, gracing the catwalks of major fashion houses like Chanel and Jean-Paul Gaultier in recent seasons. Style expert Beverly Osemwenkhae of ProjectBee agrees. “Jumpsuits are a great alternative for a cocktail dress. They’re quite modern and non-traditional. Sometimes it’s nice to step outside the box and try something new.”

There are a few things to consider when selecting the right jumpsuit, including whether you want a more tailored, fashion-forward look or a breezy, drapey style. Pastel or neutral hues work well for spring weddings, while a matte-satin fabric works best for a structured, power boss bridal party. “Sexy and chic, jumpsuits can easily be styled up,” she adds, noting that jumpsuits work especially well for city weddings and venues where the attire is more cocktail rather than black tie.

Here, we’ve selected some of the best bridal party jumpsuits to make a statement down the aisle, as well as expert advice on sizing, materials, and how to accessorize the look.

For a vintage-inspired bell bottoms a modern twist, this camisole-style jumpsuit has a fun, flaring effect and a plunging open back with adjustable straps. It’s ankle-length, which means you can show off your evening footwear (strappy sandals for a more casual wedding or matte satin block heels pair well with this). Lulus Champagne Satin Jumpsuit

Lulus Elegant Love Champagne Satin Tie-Back Wide-Leg Jumpsuit

This eye-catching high-halter jumpsuit in champagne is definitely a showstopper. Featuring an elegant tie back and shiny satin fabric, it’s a romantic, modern look for bridal party wear. The only downside is you may not be able to don shapewear underneath, especially with the exposed back and fitted bodice, but it’s an elegant silhouette nevertheless. We’re especially feeling the high-waisted, ankle-length wide leg that pairs well with strappy heels or nude sandals for a beachside wedding.

A.L.C

A brand favorite of style consultant Beverly Osemwenkhae, this Milan Jumpsuit in black crepe features coquettish side cutouts with corset-inspired detailing. The brand recommends sizing up for a more relaxed look, but the good news is the fabric does have a bit of stretch to it and there are adjustable straps. For an effortlessly chic look, this silver satin jumpsuit features smooth, drapey fabric with a touch of shine. We’re loving the twist, halter-neck style and tie waist (so it’s moderately adjustable to suit different figures) and it’s not too form fitting like some of the others in the roundup. Modern and bold, you can dress it up with strappy metallic heels and a jeweled-encrusted clutch.

A.L.C Elsie Jumpsuit

A.L.C Elsie Jumpsuit

A.L.C

And last but not least, we had to add a tailored, strapless option to the mix and this jumpsuit by A.L.C is just too good to pass up. The glace or black options work well for formal nuptials and we’re loving the bone corsetry and pleated wide legs. The black version is also on sale right now and the brand advises to size up since it tends to run a bit small.

What to Look for in a Bridal Party Jumpsuit

Silhouette

First, decide whether you want a wide leg or straight leg jumpsuit, which will determine the overall silhouette. “You want to focus on a cut that works on different body shapes,” says Beverly. “A one shoulder is usually a style that works for many shapes, and you can also easily wear a bra for support. A wide leg jumpsuit is definitely a go-to or a jumpsuit with a train feels very elevated,” says Beverly. “A full wide leg jumpsuit is also very flattering.” This pleated, ultra-wide leg from Ieena for Mac Duggal drapes similarly to a dress, as well as this ankle-length option from Fame and Partners.

Length

A full or ankle-length jumpsuit works best for a bridal party. Steer clear of midi lengths.

Neckline

“A sweetheart neckline [like this Gigi Convertible jumpsuit] is a cut that works for most women,” says Beverly. “A sheath cut is also very flattering and forgiving to the body,” she adds.

FAQ
  • Which materials work best for bridal party jumpsuits?

Satin, glossy silk, or materials with a hint of sheen works best for a glam-bridal party jumpsuit, while crepe or cady fabric look great for a more tailored, structured look. “I like a silk jumpsuit because silk moves so effortlessly. The fabric is rich and beautiful,” recommends Beverly.

  • What accessories style up the look?

It all depends on the cut, but strappy ankle heels, block heels, and mules look stunning with jumpsuits, as well as combat boots or chunky heels if you want to go that route. Beverly recommends opting for jewel-encrusted accessories: “If you're going with a wide leg jumpsuit, style it with a fun crystal belt or if it’s a one-shoulder, add a brooch to spice things up,” she says.
